I have no insurance
OK, both of the above are wrong…Adderall is a combination of amphetamine salts (AKA D-Amphetamine). It is not methamphetamine! But it is a stimulant. If you research into it a little bit, you will quickly see that I am right on this one.
From RXlist.com:
"ADDERALL® (amphetamine aspartate; amphetamine sulfate; dextroamphetamine saccharate; dextroamphetamine sulfate) A single-entity amphetamine product combining the neutral sulfate salts of dextroamphetamine and amphetamine, with the dextro isomer of amphetamine saccharate and d, l-amphetamine aspartate monohydrate."

The cost depends on what you are getting. There's both name-brand and generic immediate release or name brand Adderall XR (extended release). The generic is MUCH cheaper, but there also is some debate about it's quality).
A diagnosis is (should be) required before they put you on what is essentially speed. There are no absolute tests to say "yup, this one definitely has it!" It's something a trained professional needs to assess by examining both current problems and past behaviors. There should be a pattern of behavior indicating ADHD may be the problem. . Also, a good, responsible doctor is not going to make that kind of decision based on a single visit.
There are some tests that can indicate an attention issue…but they are not, by themselves, enough to make a diagnosis. One such test is called the TOVA.

2007 Oct 16 2Yes. You need the accurate diagnosis of adhd, which depends on the results of more than one test. Adderall is actually methamphetamine, has the potential to create your dependency on the drug, and is now being replaced as the drug that created a sort of paradoxical effect on the synaptic responses in our brain. The latest drug being utilized at this time is a non amphetamine/

2007 Oct 16 3if your a minor and depending on where you life you may have to take test through the school board, most of the time you just have to be evaluated by doctor and prescribed if he feels that you will benefeit from it . cost depends on dose and if you get generic , s0 40 to 140 is my best guess/estimate

2007 Oct 16 4Adderall is NOT methamphetamine! It is not an amphetamine of any type. It is a stimulant, and potent one at that. Most doctors will not prescribe this drug if you are not ADD or ADHD. I was Ritalin for chronic fatigue and severe depression. I think that it is unusual and rare to get these drugs for those reasons.

2007 Oct 16 5Yes you have to take a test. Go to Pathways they will only charge you based on your income. Starting out at $5.00 per visit depending on your income. They will not just give you Adderall because you think you have ADHD. To many people abuse the drug, and every pharmacy is not allowed to fill more than a month at a time and will not fill it before time. Also this is not a prescription that comes ith refills, you have to go in each month for a new prescription. If you do have ADHD they can also help you get your medicine. Both my sons take Adderall XR and it runs close to $200. for one of thm and almost $300. for the other depending on the dosage and strength. I am so glad they have such strict rules and policies for these types on medicines. Good luck, best wishes. ( there is Adderall and then there is Adderall)
